Application Instructions

Applications for the Virginia Tech Executive MBA program are submitted electronically through the Virginia Tech Graduate School application system. The full application process takes about an hour to complete. You may save entered information and return to the application system at your own pace. 


CREATING AN ACCOUNT

  • Go to the Graduate School application system site
  • Click the 'Create a New Account" link. Once you confirm your email address, you will receive another email with a temporary password.
  • Login with your email and temporary password
  • You will be prompted to create a new password
  • Fill in your profile information and submit to reach your home screen

STARTING YOUR APPLICATION

Your home screen will show you four sections:

  1. Profile
  2. Academic History
  3. Your Application(s)
  4. Other File Uploads

To start your application:

  • Click the 'Create a New Application' link under Section 3 - 'Your Application(s)'
  • Select your application type (e.g. 'First Time Graduate Study')
  • Select 'Business Administration' as your program
  • Select 'Executive MBA' as your program option
  • Select 'MBA' as your degree type
  • Select 'National Capital Region' as your campus
  • Select your application term
  • Click submit

COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION

There are three required sections:

  1. Profile
  2. Academic History
  3. Your Application

1. PROFILE

  • Complete all fields as required as well as any relevant supplemental fields
  • If you need to return to this section at a later date, be sure to click 'save' at the bottom of the application screen. You do not need to complete all required fields in order to save your progress.
  • Click 'validate' at the bottom of the page to ensure you are not missing any required fields
  • Click 'save' at the bottom of the page to save your information and return to your home page

2. ACADEMIC HISTORY

  • Follow instructions on the page to submit your academic history
  • You will be required to submit a scanned copy of your official transcript(s)
  • If you need to return to this section at a later date, be sure to click 'save' at the bottom of the application screen. You do not need to complete all required fields in order to save your progress.
  • Click 'validate' at the bottom of the page to ensure you are not missing any required fields
  • Click 'save' at the bottom of the page to save your information and return to your home page

3. YOUR APPLICATION

  • Complete all required fields on the application as well as any relevant supplemental fields
  • If you need to return to this section at a later date, be sure to click 'save' at the bottom of the application screen. You do not need to complete all required fields in order to save your progress.
  • Click 'validate' at the bottom of the page to ensure you are not missing any required fields
  • Click 'save' at the bottom of the page to save your information and return to your home page

RETURNING TO YOUR APPLICATION

  • Go to the Graduate School application system site
  • Login with your email address and the password you created to reach your home page
  • Click 'edit' under 'Actions' in Section 3 - 'Your Application(s)'

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

  • Click 'validate' at the bottom of each section page to ensure there is no missing information in your application
  • Click 'submit' under 'Actions' in Section 3 - 'Your Application(s)'
  • Certify the accuracy of the information provided in your application
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee ($90) or enter your application fee waiver code

RECOMMENDATION LETTERS

Your recommender(s) will receive an email invitation to submit their recommendation letter after you have submitted your application. Please note that recommendation letters do not need to be submitted by the application deadline. There is a short grace period for receipt of your recommendation letter(s) and other supporting documentation.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

Applicants who are accepted for admission and intend to enroll will need to send an official transcript(s) showing conferral of their degree(s) to the MBA Program Office at:
